Cruise of Irish Stars-Ed and Irene Babbit



We had the pleasure of taking a cruise to the Caribbean organized by Andy Cooney's Cruise of Irish Stars.

The seven day cruise began on Saturday Feb 4th from Ft Lauderdale Florida. We traveled to St Thomas Virgin Islands, San Juan Puerto Rico and Nassau Bahamas. The cruise included 700 guests of the Cruise of Irish Stars.

The features of the trip was traveling with family and friends, the entertainment, and ship accommodations

Traveling with family and friends: We met Ed's cousin/wife in Barefoot Bay, Florida. We hooked up with  Ed's Sister/husband, Ed's sister-in law/partner (both from New Hampshire) and friends from Barefoot Bay in Ft Lauderdale.

Performances provided by Andy Cooney's Irish Stars was the most professional, entertaining, and enjoyable venues. Entertainment included Andy Cooney, Ronan Tynan (Of the Irish Tenors), the Andy Cooney Band, and a variety of performances by Irish Entertainers. While there was plenty of Irish music, entertainers provided a variety of comedy, traditional, oldie and classical routines.  Evening performances were performed in a large 1000 seat auditorium, with smaller venues performed in smaller lounges throughout the ship. Most performances were exclusive to Irish Cruise guests.



Plenty of singing, dancing, eating and drinking, sometimes well into the early morning.

We traveled on the MSC Poesia, built in 2008. Ship accommodations included balcony suites (small but efficient), food was excellent and adult beverages plenty. Ship was as attractive as any first class hotel, with marble floors (very Italian), top notch auditorium, lounges, restaurants and swimming deck..

Irene and Ed introduce themselves to Andy Cooney after his first performance. We told him that we were members of the Irish Society of Charlotte. Andy said that he would like to return to Charlotte for a Gig. The next day Andy sat down at our table at lunch and visited for a half hour.  Later we had pictures taken with him and he took Irene to the dance floor. We were all impressed by his accessibility.
